There is some rust developing over the left rear fender lip, otherwise this truck is
really clean.
So here's the deal:
The original engine started to run roughly/misfire and I could not get it to run smoothly.
I didn't want to dump a lot of money into fixing a 238,000 mile engine.
I even considered dropping in a 5.0L V8....but that was going to cost too much money and too much time & effort.
Then I found and bought a 91,000 mile 3.0 V6 complete with automatic transmission out of a '99 Ranger from a Parts Yard and installed it.
I also put on new tires, brakes and a new battery while swapping the engine.
It ran great for 6 months, then started to shift harshly, then threw a '0715' MIL code.
The code is for the transmission turbine input speed sensor.
You have to pull the transmission to replace the input speed sensor.....I'm not pulling the transmission.....again!
I hate to sell it, it's a fun truck....but I'm getting too old to crawl under vehicles and repair them, I'm done with this Ranger.
Just bought a 2020 Ranger STX.
I'll include the original engine and transmission with the sale. (the original transmission ran fine)
The Ranger starts, runs and drives fine...but sometimes the shifts are quick and hard.
You just have to change that frickin' turbine input speed sensor!
$3,350 OBO includes the OEM engine and transmission.
I'm near BWI airport/Baltimore, Md area.
