Re: 1988 Ranger XLT 2.9L 2WD $1000 O.B.O.

No comments on here. Is no one interested, or is it the price I'm asking? Some feedback would be helpful - thanks.

Re: V-6 Head gasket

Bad head gasket can cause oil leaks? Hmm.. I hope that's not what's wrong with my '88.

Re: Need A/C advice for an '88!!

Oops nevermind, checked it again and the retrofit valve had completely blown out. Compressor is still working after I replaced that piece and recharged it.

Exclamation Need A/C advice for an '88!!

My retrofitted compressor stopped working after all the R134a leaked out.

How difficult is it to replace the seals and hoses? Should I just get a new compressor and use R134a? Is that even...

Re: Wiring piece melted at signal switch

Figured I'd follow up to complete this thread.

Replaced with the new Airtex parts and temporary twist-on wire connectors:

Re: Wiring piece melted at signal switch

Found the connector I'm looking for on that site! Thanks man

And yes, I'm glad it didn't burn any more than that. My turn signals still worked, but it was probably burning that connector every...

Wiring piece melted at signal switch

1988 XLT

I've been having problems with my headlights flashing randomly, and one time even going completely dark after I turned my brights on and off.

I narrowed it down to my turn signal...

Re: Cracked Windshield

Same thing happened to me except I got pulled over by a cop 2 hours drive away from my home in a small town and was cited with a "fix-it-ticket."

Once I got it replaced I had make the 2-hour...

Re: anyone ever build a 2.9?

Anyone know where the World Products replacement heads can be purchased? I tried WP website, Summit Racing, etc. and they all seem to be unavailable. Do they no longer make these? Clearwater Cylinder...

Re: How to: Throttle Cable mod

Wow, this is amazing. I managed 4 zip ties on there. No wonder my 2.9 felt so weak going up hills, I gained so much more power being able to open the throttle up all the way now. This mod is the best...

Re: Mounting NATO gas cans in the bed

I've been looking at the work involved to fix it all together and decided to just buy the bracket instead. I like that Micky's bracket shown in the picture can be padlocked, and I would be taking it...

Re: Mounting NATO gas cans in the bed

Nice! I'm assuming it won't fit up against the side and in front of the rear tires because of that small sloped area. Against the cab is probably where I'll put mine too. Do you keep a siphon for it,...

Re: Truck won't idle on cold mornings?

Mine has this problem too. I usually turn the key halfway and back a couple times (it activates the fuel pump) before starting it, and it seems to start up easier that way (for a temporary solution)....

I waxed my truck over the summer on a hot day, and tried to wax off by hand... NEVER AGAIN! Had to put all my body weight into it to get it off, and there are still swirls on it. Must've been doing...

Thumbs up Re: pet smell

Ozium is great stuff, I use it more than anything else. You can buy it at any Autozone, it comes in a small can in the air freshener section. I would definitely avoid breathing it in though, as it...

Re: Steam/Smoke Coming From Vents?

Just finished replacing it, and it was indeed easy on my '88. Sure enough the old heater core was pretty messed up. Now to get that antifreeze film off the windshield so it doesn't fog, and I'll have...

Re: Speedometer Needle Fluctuates/5MPH Innacuracy

Re: Is my loss of power due to timing?

I changed the plugs, k&n air filter, and pcv. Dist cap and wires sound like an easy enough tune-up, so I'll give that a try too.
