Post Need Box Layout Ideas

I just bought my 02 Ext Cab Ranger and the previous owner had two JL 10's in a fairly large box in it. I currently have a single Memphis 10" sub thats installed in a dual 10" box (a gift from a coworker) The wiring is all there and all I need is 1. An amp and 2. A smaller, single box. My truck didn't come with the jack so the area between the two fold down seats is basically being wasted.

Now here's the catch...I drive my younger teenage brother and teenage sister to school everyday and will need as much room as possible. I only need to seat three. Therefore I must leave as much room in the back as possible for the third person as well as backpacks and other crap. I have good building skills and could easily make an MDF box but I just want some suggestions as to positioning of the amp and sub. Btw this is my first thread on FRF

I told the previous owner to take 'em out because I needed the room.

Wow. They could actually be worth as much as the truck.

Sounds like a plan. I have a Memphis 10" sub. Any amp suggestions? I can't afford anything fancy at the moment though.

Match the rms power handling & impedance of the sub to a legit mono amp.

You don't need anything "fancy" but you do need something that is reliable and quality. What model is your sub? Mclass, M5, Mojo, Reference? What does it have for voice coil/s? Need this info before making a good amp suggestion.

It is a Memphis Power Reference 10" with 250 RMS/500Watts peak 60oz. magnet size. Essentially it is the same as this http://www.amazon.com/15-PR10D4V2-Memphis-Power-Reference-Subwoofer/dp/B003AXBQX4 except my sub has a slightly different logo on the front. I don't know much about subs (I got this sub as a gift from a coworker) but it has 2 sets of positive and negative terminals on it.

Should be a dual 4 ohm voice coil then. Here is a great amp that won't break the bank. Good power, small chassis and very reliable;

That one looks good. I like the price. What about this one: http://www.amazon.com/KICKER-DX250-1-2-Ohm-Amplifier-11DX2501/dp/B004VD3158/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1390582267&sr=1-3&keywords=250+watt+amp

Not as familiar with that amp. Also don't like buying through internet when company claims to only have one left. I've used lots of the MTX so I'm very familiar with it and would have no issue recommending it.

Fair enough. I don't like buying something when there's only one left either!

I like the MTX amp because of the variable subsonic filter, which you need if using a ported box and can also help with a sealed box.

Sub-Sonic Filter - Ultra-low frequencies that cannot be reproduced by the subwoofer do not become sound but unnecessary oscillations, which affect sound by causing distortion. These frequencies also waste amplifier power and can cause damage to the speakers. The sub-sonic filter removes the frequencies below the frequency setting to improve the performance of the speakers by eliminating harmful distortion.
