Default Front end noise that ISN'T a wheel bearing?

I've got this annoying and strangely scary noise that I can't figure out. Any help, ideas, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Background: A few months back I did a complete front end brake job. New rotors (came with races already installed), new inner and outer wheel bearings, new grease seals, new grease caps, new grease, and one brake caliper bracket (the old one would not turn loose of the lower bolt). Not being a professional, I did something to screw up my ABS light which now stays on constantly. Oh well, brakes still work, so on to the problem.

Flash Forward to Last Week: a new sound started in my front end, appearing to come from the left wheel. Like a flat tire, riding over a steel bridge, new tires on pavement, or a fan belt whining. Starts around 35mph and speeds up or slows down with vehicle speed. Disappears on left hand turns, no change on right hand turns. All the markings of a left front wheel bearing, right? Just wait.

Today: Pulled the left front wheel and repacked the bearings which appeared fine (they were less than two months old!). Did a test drive...no change. Purchased NEW inner and outer wheel bearings and grease seal. Repacked with new grease, took test drive...no change. So now I'm lost. CV joint? Right wheel instead of Left? Gremlins? Since this is a public forum, let me just say @#$%#*!!!. Help if you can...I'm not too proud to listen to wisdom or experience.

I replaced the hubs on my truck a few times. One thing I learned is that the sound usually comes from the opposite side of the truck for some crazy reason... It sounds almost like your bearings are shot, again. Try replacing them again. Your CV joint shouldn't make any noise, even if it is bad. That's what my mechanic told me.

Thanks Red, tomorrow I'll pull the pull the right wheel and check things out. Since i now have an extra set of bearings, i won't need to run out and get anything if that is the case.

Ok, so I took Red's advice and checked out the RIGHT wheel. I didn't even have to grab it at 12 and 6 o'clock like people suggested. Just touching the top of the tire caused it to WOBBLE!!! Wow! Much thanks Red for suggesting I check the right wheel.

As a follow up note: I contacted my Ford Dealer where I had just recently had a service done. I raised hell about being charged a $45 diagnostic fee (over and above my $39.95 Works Package) and only being told "... it 'might' be a front wheel bearing, but we aren't sure which one. It may run around $170 to find the problem, then additional cost for parts and labor to repair.." After telling the manager that this problem could be found by TOUCHING my damned wheel, and the tire rotation (part of my Works Package) would have found the problem immediately, he apologized and offered me a free service next visit.

So guess who will be secretly marking the inside of his tires and checking his oil dipstick, coolant color, and washer fluid level after his next service to make sure they are actually done? Yeah, ME!

there's a reason people learn how to work on their own trucks, it's so you don't pay money to a dealership for them not to do the work for you.
