Default Tires sitting a while have little cracks in them??

So I let my 4x4 tires sit for about a year and they have little cracks inbetween the tread. Are the tires trash or can they be salvaged?? I will only be using them on beaches and such this summer.

i'd be a little hesitant to drive them on the highway, but i've used tires with cracks like that on them on the farm & around town before with no problems. any pics?

They will not work on problem tires, and I found that out first hand when my mom's 04' Taurus went in for a leak a couple years ago. The tech noticed some webbing on the tires, and then, he realized that the tires were OEM and over 7 years old. He said liability if something happened, and the shop had even replaced a valve stem.

those cracks in the tread are kinda typical lol, but if you looked inside the tire, i bet the inner lining would look great. i'd run them in the sand all day (or til they blew lol)

My brand new tires look like that. Tread wears differently on different tires, but those are not dry-rotted.

Yeah dry rot would be deeper and thicker cracks like on most swampers lol. My jeep has tsls with amazing tread that are dry rotted. Hold air fine but that's on a mud truck. I wouldn't worry about it. When you store tires keep them in a shed or something. It will help some.

Correct. There are proper ways to store tires, such as covering them. I have never had to store tires, so that isn't an issue that I've ever had to face.

My current tires sat unused on the wheels of my lifeless Ranger for about 5 years. I've been driving on them for a little more than a year now and only one has busted from taking a harsh turn (didn't bust really, just got lots of small cracks and slowly deflated). The rest are doing alright, though I do have some cracks in all of them.

I have several trailers that sit around for months on end. The tire shop advised to always have a piece of wood between the tire and pavement/concrete. I was also advised to replace them after 10 years of age regardless of condition. The wood seems to keep the tires from cracking so badly. For whatever it is worth.
