Post Can I put 235/75/15 on my 2000 Ext Cab 2WD Ranger?

Without doing any modifications? Or minimal mods?

yes. it's just one size up from stock....you're good to go. My old '05 xcab 2wd work truck I put that sized tires on. Made the truck look beefier.

Post Speedomoeter???

Will the change in tire size make any significant difference in the speedometer reading?

Thanks!

you won't even be able to tell....it's just a small difference in diameter between it and your stock 225/75r15's(?), it won't be noticeable at all.

I put a set of 235/75/15's on my '02 4Ltr. Ranger. Your gas mileage will suffer some and your speedometer will be progressively off the faster you go. At a shown 65 mph, I was making 69 on my gps. The faster the speed the more the error. At like 35, hardly 1 mph difference. You will also feel a difference with your acceleration and braking. Neither will be as good as with stock sizes. To help your gas mileage, use a lower gear at lower speeds. Traveling on secondary roads, I slipped it out of OD (auto. tran.) to keep the rpm's in a more comfortable range and that helped a little, like .5 - 1 mpg more if done consistently. However, they do fill up the fender well better and look better. Good luck.

Ford's are notorious for speeometer readings being off. Generally about3 mph.

It's hard to believe just a SMALL difference in diameter makes that much of a difference especially on the 4.0. My truck had 30.5's stock then I tossed on 32's(more than double the diameter difference than what we're discussing here). And it made a veryvery minimal difference. My mileage actually was it's best running the 32's with my stock 4.10 gearing.

Exactly, FoMoCo. 225-70-15 is the stock tire. 235-70-15 is like .4" taller than the stock size. The 235-75-15 makes a substantial difference in section width, tread width and diameter/circumference. Thus my statements were based on a jump from 225-70's to 235-75's and those were the changes as I saw them on my particular truck. Your results may differ.

Guys, my door stamp, gas tank cover flap and owners booklet states that my stock size tire on a 2002 XLT, extended cab, 4 liter OHC, auto transmssion is 225-70R-15 .
I tried to cut and paste a table from 1010tires.com but I can't carry the table forward, just a bunch of disjointed information. So, in the interest of clarity here is the information for you to review.

tire size section width Diameter Diameter Diff. % Speedometer error
225-70-15 8.85" 27.4" --- ---
235-70-15 9.25 27.95" +1.97% 2.015% too slow
235-75-15 9.25 28.87" +5.1% 5.372% too slow

So depending on whether you jump from my stock size of 225-70's or from your stock size of 235-70's will determin if you find a substantial difference in performance/speedo error, braking, etc. or just a little bit. I found the difference in the 225-70 vs the 235-75to be substatial enough that I went back to the 225-70 and I'm happy that I did. BUT, that's me and my psychy. Yours is probably different. If you like it (and it does look better), more power to ya.

Yes you can my friend, I have the same truck and put them on mine. I really see no difference in milage or speedometer readings. As for handeling no major differences. And beleive it or not when you first drive it you do notice a differnce, it sits higher. If you want a beefier look definatly need All terrain or mud terrain. I put federal couragia A/T on mine, painted the stock rims glass black, and it looks great
