Default New Wheel Problem

Is there any previous problems with these wheels not fitting the rotor or the drum on a 2000 ford ranger xlt.

Series 98 Rock Crawler - Gloss Black Monster Mod Wheel

15x10, 5 on 4.75 Bolt Pattern
Backspace = 3.75 in.
Max Load =1800 lbs
Finish = Gloss Black Powder Coat

The shop put these wheels on my truck knowing they didn't mount right. Evidently there was a gap where part of the rim didnt fit the drum and rotor in the front. Then they bent one wheel trying to tighten it down with 150lbs of torque and get it to lay flat.

Is there an adapter you need with these wheels? Do they not work on ford rangers? The place i got them from said they would work fine?

The bolt pattern for ford rangers is 5x4.5

Take them back to the shop and have the switch them to the correct rims no charge. If the refuse, time for court.

They look like generic steel wheels to me...they should fit fine.

Do you have a picture of what you’re describing?

Im ready to give up. The shop is telling me the wheels still flex when you tighten them down with stock lug nuts. Procomp says this shouldn't be happening and the shop messed up all my wheels. I dont have the money to pay for any new parts. Especially stuff I didn't mess up. I don't even know where to begin in solving the problem. Procomp says its just the lug nuts while the shop says the wheel isn't mounting flat. I don't know whether the shop is telling the truth or trying to cover up their mistakes.

You need hub rings or a wheel spacer

Yeah that's what i just figgured out. The wheel has a bump that goes up all the way around the center of the wheel. Making the wheel flex when tightening.

That part was flexing down onto the mounting surface. The new shop im taking it to says the fix should be a new lug nut and a wheel spacer so cover the groove and make it mount flat in the back.

HOLY look at those lug seats. Yeah, those wheels are destroyed. I am not sure why this is a problem.... Were those wheels used? They look dirty. Maybe the PO messed them up>??

Yeah, I was wondering if those stock (I think) lug nuts even mate up with those lug seats properly.

I believe most aftermarket Pro-Comp wheels use a conical-tapered lug nut setup - but I can't remember what style the stock setup has (I haven't had stock wheels for like 8 years!).

I have never tried using the stock lug nuts with aftermarket wheels.

Yeah I got a new wheel coming. Hopefully the spacer solves the excess flexing problem

rangers have conical lug seats. I am thinking these wheels were messed up from something in the past.

Yeah if they were used..who knows.

I've never heard of needing a spacer to 'fill a gap' before. I'm betting the stock lug nuts aren't the correct ones - so when it's tightened down, they are deforming the wheel.

None of this sounds normal - It's a basic steel wheel that you shouldn't need anything special for.

Hope you get it figured out! It's gotta be frustrating!
