Question Knock off tire thread

I know like most folks, I would love to buy a knock off tire that would simply hold up compared to it's predecessor. The main tire I am questioning would be the Nankang Mudstar. It appears to be an exact copy of the Maxxis Buckshot Mudder. Here are a few links to pictures for comparison. Does anyone have any experience with Nankang tires in general? Any and all info is greatly appreciated. My tire size is 265/70/17.

I had some nankang ns1's on my old car. They seemed fine but I sold the wheels after only about 10k miles. My buddy had them last year and said they didn't grip too well. Now, I am talking low pro tires and not truck tires.

Thanks for the info. I should also add that anyone else who has questions about "knock off" tires are more than welcome to post their questions here as well. It would help keep the clutter down on the forum!

I have buckshots right now and they have been great. Was thinking my next set some treadwright re-tread MT's, but last I checked they weren't making any in a 33" anymore. Maybe by the time I get ready to buy they will have them again.

I ran a tire called Sierra. They are made by Procomp. I ran their A/T and loved it! Just look up sierra tires on google

Identical tire, just a lot less expensive. 31s are "general"ly $40 less then BFGs. Most of that reduced cost probably comes from the fact that the generals are only a 2-ply where as the BFGs are a 3-ply design and the cost of having BFG printed on the side of the tire of course.

The Firestone destination MTs are almost identical to the old BFG MTs at about the same price as the BFG ATs and according to some they are a better tire.

firestone destination MTs are a good tire and very aggressive and from what i've heard there fairly cheap
