Default 1a107

Would somebody be kind enough to show me a picture of this actual part?

I am thinking that this 'spring nut' holds the hub on if you pull off the tire. If I am right, it is obvious that I don't have it, but am having trouble visualizing just what it looks like. It is '1A107' in the part blowout, aka E7TZ 1A107.

No, it is not a lug nut. Nor is it the toggle as same part is on the automatic hub, see blowout pic. I went googling, and no pics found.

Could be a spring nut. I had a few on each wheel of my new truck. My guess is they are there to just hold the hub steady. I removed them all when I inspected and lubed my brake slider pins and bracket contact points.

It is called a spring nut in one of the references I have. What do they look like? Like the spring nuts holding trim screws?

It's just a flat disc of spring steel stamped to have a conical center and notches cut in the conical part so it has some flex. My computer $h1t itself again, so I can't look up a picture to post up for you.

I bought a gaming computer thing I was getting a Ferrari but it's more like a British sports car (always in the shop). :-/

Nope. Think a conical washer but with straight notches cut out of the conical part. Usually four or six notches. Sort of like a trim screw washer but the top part is flat instead of rounded over. Not having computer is frustrating.

Well, at least you confirmed what I thought. To use my old shop terminology, it is a internal tooth retainer washer. Correct?

Another issue I just discovered is that the thing was heavily greased, and that grease is badly contaminated. There is a groove for an o-ring. But no o-ring. And I do not see one in that part diagram.

Always something...

I am thinking that I can cut some squares out of thin galvanized (air duct) sheet, drill the hole, and thread them on. I need to find a way to cinch this down, that contaminated grease made me 'unhappy'.

know how you feel. I have two dead ones now that I simply have not been able to get to in order to fix. Both have heat issues, so have to rip out the heat sink and renew the compound. That compound and I do not get along, it gets everywhere...

It sounds like you have the right idea, though I've never heard it called that.

You might want to talk to the guys at the parts counter about if an o ring is supposed to be there or not. The ones at my local dealer are pretty good and have never steered me wrong.
