Default FAQ tire fit

i have a 2005 ranger xlt fx4 not lvl2 as it sits right now i have 245/75 r16 i have read that a 265/75 r16 will fit but it also says it depends on if you have 15" or 16" wheels here is a quote that i read "On '93-'09 4x4 Rangers (and all Edge/Trailhead models), a 31x10.50R15 or a 265/75R16 will fit, depending on if you have the 15" or 16" stock wheels (16s are common on '98-'09)" can some please explain this to me i dont understand what differance it makes if u have 15 or 16 inch rims other than the dia. being smaller on the 15 i am lookin at puttin a set of 31x10.50x16 parnelli jones dirt grips or 265/70 r16 possibly 265/75 r 16 on it but i want to know that they will fit before i drop about 800 thanks for your help

don't fully under stand the ? but the 265/70 r16 will only fit a 16 inch rim r16 tells you that.

i guess i what i am tryin to ask is a 31 10.50 15 not the same as a 31 10.50 16 other than the rim being smaller because this quote i posted ealier says these tires will fit depending on you have a 15 or 16 inch rim i would think that it wouldnt make a differance with the size the sidewall would just be differant the hieght and width should be the same correct?

yes those sizes would be the same, but when sizes are in the metric number then the numbers are not the same as they depend on the rim size as a factor

You can run the 31x10.50x15 if you get the 15 inch rims or run the 31x10.50x16s on your stock rims. If I may make a suggestion....if you can find the tire you want in a 32x11.50 or a 33x10.50, they fill in the fender gaps much better and don't rub. I had the 31x10.50x15s on my truck as the OEM tire and I replaced them with 32x11.50s and I may go to the 33x10.50s next time. Just my 2 cents.
