Explorer wheels on my 94 Ranger?

Recently purchased 255/70R/16's from an Explorer with intended destination of my 94 2-wd Ranger. Can anyone tell me what size diff would be needed? If I swap a rear end is there a common one that would fit my new size wheels and work with my Ranger? Any other tips related to me using these size wheels would be helpful

Truck has stock 14's, the truck has really low (or tall) 1st & 2nd to begin with anyway, stop - 20mph= 1st gear, 20 - 35mph= 2nd gear, hmm?

the wheels will bolt right on. same bolt pattern. before you swap gears you may want to swap to a explorer rear, and get bigger brakes. the truck would be lower then unless you change the mounts

Thanks, I checked the clearance for turning radius in the front -checks out ok. Yeah, I may switch to a different axle, like you say, or for now I may just change the differential gearing to accomodate the bigger wheels (gears are too big already with the standard wheels, did Ford make different manual 5 speeds for the 4 & 6 engines? Seems like someone swaped the wrong tranny or something??)

One major downside I really don't like -the explorer wheels are steel and one rim/tire weighs the same as two of the stock rim/tires (stock are aluminum). That sucks... its never a benefit to have greater unsprung weight at the wheels, not to mention the additional rotational mass. Maybe later I can find other inexpensive, lighter, 16" rims for it?

you can get alum. rims off a explorer in 16 inches also
