Default Mud Tires

I am gonna put a 4" lift in my truck and i was thinkin about puttin some mud tires on it. I like the look of the toyo open country mt's, but i heard that mud tires make a lot of noise and gas mileage goes way down. What are everybody's thoughts on mud tires and more specifically the toyo mt's. Thanks

That all depends on the tire size more than the tread pattern. I have never been impressed with Toyo MT's

285/75r16's are gonna be a little on the small side for the lift...but...it's a wise choice for economy.

As far as suggestions go, you can never go wrong with a set of BFG Mud Terrains.....I'm on my 5th set and absolutely love them. Can't wait for KM2's when these KM1's are gone. They are some of the best on/off road tires out there. Very street worthy. Very trail worthy. Great wear characteristics. And from having several tires on several rigs, they are one of the best I've ran. Quiet considering it's size and tread pattern(in my case, almost always 35's). And high speed wet surface driving is very very comfortable. No hydroplaning what so ever. That's very surprizing because these are unsiped mud terrains. I suggest KM2's.

Forgot...it's a Mud Terrain....of course it's gonna be louder than a tight packed tread of an All Terrain. BFG's are some of the quietest M/T's out there.

I'm runnin 315 Toyo MT's and when I got them, the ride was excellent and quiet. Haven't gotten to explore the off road capabilities of the tire yet, but I've got close to 20k on the tires from this last year and I've got a good 50% left on all 4 and they're even siped. Great tire, but find them used or find a deal on them, because they're spendy.

I got a set of BFGoodrich M/T's as well (33x12.5) and I like them a alot. They are the first mud tire I have ever purchased and loved them for daily driving. I have only done a little terrain so I can't give you an honest answer, but they handle good in snow and dry and wet conditions.

BFG's have a 60k rating. I've gotten 50k out of 80% used set of BFG's. I'd say that's pretty damn good if you ask me.
