Default Need some tread

Hello all,
I just joined the forum looking for some info both now and in the future. I have a 2004 ranger FX4. When I bought it used it had 265/70 r16s and they looked good and worked fine. I need new tires and noticed on that it is supposed to have 245/75 r16s. Which size should I get and is what is your favorite all-terrain tire. I live in Durango Colorado, therefore snow and ice are a concern.

Thanks Fishon

Welcome

265/70/16 are equivalent to a 31" tire The larger size will cost more but it's all what is your preference

I would recommend BFG A/T's

X3 on the BFGs! I just bought mine right before Christmas and absolutely love them! The day I bought them, it snowed 12" and I got out and played in it all day with no problemsj even the fresh untreaded snow!!! I got mine in a 31X10.50 and they are great. I was gonna go 32s bit didn't quite have money.

BFG A/Ts are definitely a very popular and well liked all terrain tire, and I too recommend them.

BFG A/T's are popular and it's for a reason: they are very good tires for what they are and many many many are very happy with them. But they aren't a traction tire for snow or ice...and quite honestly, after owning them before, they perform worse than my BFG M/T's and Goodyear MT/R's on snow and ice.

I've been hearing really good things about the Good Year Duratrac tires. If they had 'em in my size, I'd be considering them. They are traction tires(meaning they are considered traction devices by the DOT), pinned for studs...it's a good mix of both all terrain and mud terrain on one aggressive yet subtle looking tire.

Size wise, 30.5 is 245/75r16. If youre into the bigger, beefier look, I suggest doing 265/75R16's. Plenty of room for 'em as you can run a 285/75R16(33") with a small torsion crank. That's a more common size than 265/70 and your options and price should be better with the 75's than the 70-series tires.

Default Thanks for the replies

Hankooks A/T RF10's

http://www.fourwheeler.com/techartic...est/index.html

I am going to get these. They have some very good reviews, said to be as good as BFGs and even better b/c of their ice and snow capacity.
Plus only $122 for the 245s and $133 for the 265s. Ill post a review.

I have the Duratracs and I love them. The only time I really have to think about 4x4 is on ice and no tire does any good on ice. And I just checked tirerack for the prices between the BFGs and Duratracs and I was suprised. The price for the Duratrac went up $15 a tire since I bought them thanksgiving week. Now they are $5/tire more than the BFGs. They are now $147/ tire and I only paid $132!

Are those the tires with the multiple chevrons in the tread? The Hankook Dynopro M/T's?

Firestone Destination A/T's are good. I drove them through 3 winters on a rear wheel drive. They are meant for slush and snow. Good all around tire.
