15x8 rubbing on my truck
I bought a pair of craggier soft 8s 15x8 with -12 offset and 4in backspace and they rub my caliper? But every forum told me they should fit, why don't they?

Plus, are we talking fronts or rears (if 2010+)?
I've heard of some 15's rubbing on the newer trucks with factory rear disc brakes (2010+) - Sort of hit & miss by wheel manufacture.
If not that, shouldn't cause an issue as I (along with many many others) have had 15's on a Ranger (Mine was a late 2003 so it had the 'larger' front brakes as well).

'Can be' but doesn't 'have to be'.

Odd. I had 15's on my 2003 4wd for years. Not that brand though.
So its rubbing on the caliper itself - not because of wheel weights on the inside or anything right?
On my truck is was very close - but didn't rub. Perhaps that's an odd wheel manufacturer that runs thicker...not 100% sure.

Yea it rubs but a lot of people seem to run this setup near me, and they have no problem, it rubs the caliper itself with no weights.

At first my rims rubbed on the metal tabs that slide under the brake pads. The metal kinda curls out past the caliper and would rub. I just trimmed them a bit. Are you sure that's not what is happening to you? Is it the actual caliper? I find it hard to believe that it is since alot of people run 15 inch rims. Unless you have some special aftermarket calipers that are bigger

No its the caliper i can put my hand through the spokes and feel the caliper on the rim, let me upload a picture and show you where it is rubbing. [IMG] [/IMG]

Re: 15x8 rubbing on my truck
A simple search pulled up this.
Wheel backspacing/offset charts
To me it looks like you need at least a -19 offset with a 8" wheel.

Again - odd.
Must have something directly to do with the Cragar setup being 'slightly' smaller than most other 15's.....?

No.
That's what most end up getting (3.75" of backspacing) - but isn't required at all. Most run with -19mm offset on 8" wide wheels due to 'the look' or for clearance from suspension components - not for caliper clearance itself.
I ran an 15x8 wheel setup with 4" of backspacing on my 2003 without issue. Wasn't' Cragar though.
Plus, from the looks of the picture - a person would need a huge amount of reduced backspacing to help that.
The steel Cragar must run on the 'small' side of a nominal 15" wheel is all I can think of.
Of all the years these trucks have been around - I cant think of another person that's had an issue running 15's on that old of a truck. Like I said, I know some of the 'newer' Rangers couldn't run 15's due to the brake changes - but not the 2003 vintage.

Re: 15x8 rubbing on my truck
On my 2011, with rear disc brake, the only 15'' i have found that fit is the Pacer and it's a very tight fit! Everywhere i have asked said 15'' don't fit on a 2011, even the Ford dealer say it was impossible...until they saw-it during a oil change, so many WTF face !!!! So if you want to stay in 15'' maybe try a Pacer wheel.
