i have a pinhole leak in my RIM!
oh boy does this chap my ass... so ive had a slow leak the last week in a tire on my winter wheel set. and every other day id have to fill it up. so last night after work i decided to fill it up. once i got it filled i hear pretty loud hissing sound....fack. so i take my super rusty spare out which took forever with that lock thing and then the inside of the rim wouldnt fit on the hub!!! so i sat there with a chisel taking some rust off to get it to fit.
so then i take a look at the rim... the air is coming out of the inner lip of the rim where all the water sits, such a horrible design. so now idk what to do, can they repair something like that? i put some water near where the sound was coming from and the air was visibly coming out. came out fast too, was pretty flat in 30 min. here is what my rim looks like, ill get actually pics tomorrow probably.

anybody? my buddy has some first gen. alum. rims i might buy for $50, but could i get this repaired??

A shop should be able to TIG weld that and grind it back flush.

Why would you tig it? They're steel. Just get a mig welder, dismount the tire, weld the hole, remount/balance and you'll be good to go. OR get some new wheels

welding never lasts, seen it 3 times on the same dodge same wheel, he kept welding and it kept leaking

Oh, I thought he said aluminum wheels somewhere, sorry. Any weld will work then. Most tire shops don't do welding, but if you look through the yellow pages there are probably 10 shops within 25 miles that could do it.

thanks for the replys guys, well yea i was told to see about getting it repaired but to me it would just be a bandaid for the inevitable.
so ive been talking to my buddy about buying his aluminum wheels he had on his '87, all for $50! so im hoping they arent bent or anything so i can swap them all on. any idea on scrap for my stock steelies?

dont the 87 rims have clearance issues with the hubs on newer rangers?
