Default Tire Size Help

Ok so I have 245 75 16s on my 3.0 ranger single cab.
i realy dont like how skiny the tires are.
So I want to go to a wider tire. I was thinking of a 265 70. Or even a 285 65. My question is If i go to a 285 width tire, will the extra weight cause it to lose acceleration.(im not here to bitch about the 3.0's power) I was also considering getting a set of ion 174 wheels. so the other question is if i should get the wheels with a diffrent offset and if they would look better sticking out a bit further than the stock offset. Or go to a 15 inch (stock 16s) and a 31 10.5 tire. sorry if this is confusing, but i had alot of questions to ask.

Ok thanks so now im thinking a 265 70s with the ion 174s and a shallower backspacing. Do you think that would look good on a single cab? I was hoping for it to stick past the fender flares a bit but dont think they would.

It really depends on the backspacing to see how much there in or out
