painting wheels
I have the stock 2003 XLT wheels that are chrome but i was wondering how hard it would be to paint them black. What paint to use? How hard will it be it sand? I have seen them black and I really like the look better but idk how hard it will be. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: painting wheels
I always use Rust-Oleum brand Automitve Primer, Paint, and Clearcoat. You can get at Lowes make sure the Primer and Paint say Automotive Enamel and the cearlcoat doesnt say automobile enamel its just says clearcoat but its tricky if you get the clearcoat you gota make sure its the ''Clear" one not the one with a blueish hue in it.

Re: painting wheels

Re: painting wheels
when I painted the wheels on my F150 I just went by my local parts store and got 2 cans of black wheel paint and a can of clear coat...I already had primer...its lasted about a year now without any flaking off

Re: painting wheels
I had the exact same rims only the silver color, not chrome. I painted them two weeks ago with satin black duplicolor rim paint. As you can see in my photo they look pretty good. It took a lot of sanding, priming, sanding, priming, sanding, painting, and more sanding and painting haha.
They're well worth the time and effort though. Good luck.
