Default looking for new axles.....

hey not sure if this is the right location for this thread but.....

ive been saving for some time and i want to get some new axles under my truck. i also want a solid front axle. im taking my truck to a custom truck fabricator here where i live, theres no way i can do this alone lol.

anyway, i want new axles w/ 5-5.5 bolt pattern, and geared for 35's. and during all this im also having the shop put a lift on it. not sure how tall yet but i want it really tall. the rear axle can wait, but in order to do the lift i need the front one for them to install at the same time.

my question is does anyone know a good website where i could look at axles? or if someone on here has what i need? i wanna see if i can get one so the shop doesnt over charge me for it....

thanks for your time,
Chris

Why do you want 5x5.5? Do you want to go full width? Thats about the only way you're gonna get that bolt pattern...or cut the axles down. Personally I'd just go with a waggy front Dana 44 with high steer arms and a built ford 8.8 from an explorer. They'll withstand 35s all day long and still beg for more if you build them right

the rims on my truck are 5.5, i have adapters on them now and want to get rid of them. not sure what you mean by full width, but if its the overall length of the axle then sure, i dont want it to be too narrow, and i like the look of it being wider....

Yeah full width means that its wider.. like off of a bigger truck.. ie f150+... your best bet would be to get a waggy front dana 44 just like brinker88 said. just get the adapters for your bolt pattern. You will be alot happier with yourself.. and if you do go with full width you have to be careful driving around town.. some states are very picky with how much tire sticks out.

yeah.. toyota steering box like brinker said.. but you have to mesh the steering box shafts together. i think they make a kit for it or something.. so your ford shaft will mate with the toyota. Theres threads out there covering how to do this.

hey i found a local guy whos selling a dana 44 front and rear, mickey thopmson rims and tires all for 550obo on CL. the downside is that its made for chevy drive train. he mentioned something about getting a new xfer case that will allow it to convert to his chevy parts. this seems like an awesome price to me for both axles. he says they come with everthing and they are still currently bolted up to his jeep. hes waiting to remove it until it sells. he assures me everything is in working order. my question is= is it worth the hassle to change to chevy drivetrain for the awesome price? am i gunna need to buy more unneccesary parts to make these axles work (other than a new xfer case) making this deal not really worth it since id have to change stuff?

thanks guys

NO! You need a new transmission to make this work as long as a new engine and all that fun shit...dont get it.

oh damn.... well the guys at the shop that im having install them said that it will work. all id have to do is get a divorced xfer case (whatever that is) and then chevy front and rear drive shafts. but theres two diff guys there, the one guy's wife works at my store and ive known the other guy a few years, he has a lifted chevy 1500 sittin on 49's w/ a souped up motor and tranny. he's in with the guys that do trucks gone wild. runs on racing fuel and everything and he built it all himself.... anyway what im trying to say is that they are both good guys and know what thyre doing and i dont think theyd screw me over. but i have to call them again in the morning so i guess ill give you guys an update in the am.....

but does how he says hes gunna build it sound legit? xcase and driveshafts?
