Default Debating which tires i should buy

ok so first off my truck is still stock height, 2007 sport 2wd

i might be putting a leveling kit on it which will supposedly give me another 2.5" or so, but im not positive on that yet

anyways the tires i am looking at are either ------ BF Goodrich all terrain t/a or --------- Goodyear wrangler duratrac, anyone with any input on either tire please let me know thanks,

the tirerack page for each tire is here incase you dont know what each one looks like

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....6WDT&tab=Sizes

----------

oh also on a bit of a side note does anyone in the gta know where a good place to get a deal on rims is?

I had a set of the BFGs along with a lot of other members on here. I did moderate offroading and they allways workd great for me. I sold them with 70% tread left and got BFG KM2s since then. They were great tires hope it helps

yah i was super into the BFG AT and was pretty much set on buying them, until i started reading customer reviews on tire rack, and a lot of people said they were horrible in the ice and snow, which im sure anyone here with a 2wd ranger can say is bad enough as is, however i didnt read many reviews from people that own rangers, so i thought id ask yhou guys since most people on here are running them

I had my ranger in a foot of snow with them. No wight in the back jus 4wd did just fine. And imo ne thing on ice sucks lol. Its ice u need spikes if u really want the best traction.

^ Bull on them. I'm on my 3rd set of BFG All-Terrains BECAUSE they're untouchable in snow. I'm 4x4 but if you ask around anywhere knowledgeable and you'll hear the All-Terrains are excellent in everything except thick mud.

I was debating between these and the Wranglers myself last time I bought tires, but I stuck with what I know works. I hear the Wranglers are almost as good as the T/As, but it's a ya-get-what-ya-pay-for thing.

i hate the BFG's i had a set on my jeep and they were pretty much useless. those goodyear duratracks are the bomb in snow and do pretty good offroad.

yah this is pretty much what ive been reading in a lot of the reviews, i have heard that the wrangler tires are garbage, but the duratracs are a different tire all together they are actually 100 more per tire than the AT's

Can you cite where you're hearing all the negativity on the BFGs? Cause they're hugely popular here in the Great Northwest.

That's just odd cause that's not the case I've ever seen. Must be driving style.

Well even brand new my coopers have a deeper more spaced tread pattern which is why they dig better in snow/mud/whatever. I hated them on my jeep the goodyear at/s do better on rocks and what not. The t/a's just never appealed to me as a "real" offroad tire more of a street tire with some offroadability. On the ice however they seem to do pretty damn good the softer compound embarrasses my coopers.

Different strokes for different folks. Tread design can be surprising. Hankook just won a 10-way mud tire shootout in Fourwheeler mag.

Basically, do research, don't just buy a cool lookin tire. I think we can all agree on that.
