Default What TPMS do I need for 2010 XLT 4x4 xcab?

I recently bought a new set of wheels for my 2010 Ranger 4x4 4 dr x-cab for my stock tires, and kept the snow tires on the stock wheels.

Apparently (According to discount tire) I need some sort of TPMS for the new wheels since I want to keep the snow tires ready to go as weather dictates.

Discount tire says they have what I need for $400, dealer is $800.

What exactly do I need to get to keep the dash light from flashing?
There was a time people could actually check their OWN air pressure!

You know.....I went through this resently when I purchased a set of winter wheels and tires. I decided not to put them in. I thought that possibly the light on the dash would drive me crazy but it does not!!! I am an old guy who does a tire pressure check every week. I also placed a piece of tape over the light so it doesn't show brightly at night. I can put the extra $250.00 to good work somewhere else. I have an aversion to maintainance items which require a visit to the dealer so I either do them myself or circumvent them completely. Dave

Does the tpms sensor matter as to what size tire you have ? Going to get rid of my stock wranglers prob this coming winter but concerned about this as well . Possibly heavier tires on the stock rims . Like maybe toyo's or goodrichs , more knobby type of tire .

Is this the same thing I need? I understand there is a BLUE and BLACK sensor....so I am not sure which I need.

if you already have sensors on there, just reuse them and put new bands on. alot of people make bands by putting pipe clamps together:

actually if you have a parts store near you there are bands for the focus tpms sensors that are mega sized.
Carquest PN is 1194. Listing as follows: Lear system - retainer - mounting band - universal steel band fits 14" to 26" wheels - trim to length - does not includecradle or clip.
The sesnor PN is 40002. Listing as follows: lear system - sesnor comes with new retaining clip.
