Default Anyone Running Michelin AT2s?

I went from Goodyear RT-S that came from the factory and I apologize if there are any RT-S fans out there but I found them to be junk on anything but pure dry pavement especially on a 4x4. They did however get decent mpgs.

Anyway, since I was so happy with my Pirelli ATRs on our Touareg, I bought a set of 255/70/16s for the Ranger and lost 2mpg.

So, two options:

1) Michelin LTX MS 1 or 2 or the Sam's version X LT2 and use up the Pirellis on a cheap 2nd set of wheels in the winter or when I go 4 wheelin'.
2) Michelin LTX A/T2 and run 'em year round and sell the Pirellis.

Question: I am pretty confident option 1 will restore mileage but is anyone running option 2 and if so . . . did it cost you mpgs? The AT/2s have the same UTGQ as my Pirellis so I am concerned they might yield the same mpg problem. I realize UTGQ isn't necessarily = to rolling resistance directly but you will generally find tires rated for mpgs have 700-800 UTGQ, not 500.

I have #2 they are ok got them for MPG because they dont have the big lugs like the dura tracks or SA - but I might get the dura track because these suck in the Wis. snow!
