Default Re: super swamper tsl radial?

ive had some experience with these tires, my friends and family have always sworn by them. that being said my verdict on them is that if this tire is for a toy then buy then now!! but if its going on a daily driver mabey look into something a little different. these tires are the best mud tires and off road tires period, but wear quickly due to the soft compound if daily driven on pavement. also pretty loud but i always thought that was part of the fun of owning swampers! if you still want an agressive mud tires thats more streetable id look into the cooper stt. 2 of my buddies had them and they worked amazing!! and wore pretty well, the downside was they were pretty pricey.

Ben said it before. Your friend with the F350 probably has E rated tires. They are heavy and hard. The tires you will be buying are going to be a considerably softer compound and wear a lot faster.

What size are you buying? Are you going to be actually using them for offroading? Or are they just to make your truck look cool? I know I sound like a dick, but oh well.
i will be doing offroading, trails etc. i was told they'd be good on a ranger because the truck is light, 10x lighter than a f-350. he has 50k on them and have 1/4 tread left. along with an 8 inch lift on top of that. ill be getting 33x12.50, 4 inch lift.

exactly the sound is a big part of having swampers, many people told me great things about them, when people just assume when they hear 'swamper' they will last 10k. SSR, boggers, TSL, i agree they are all soft and wear fast, TSL radials are rated 4 1/2 stars out of 5 stars on the road, they are not as soft as all the other swampers i just named.

ok well let me tell you about my experience with swampers, i got a set if tsl swampers after i got about a year and a half out of my last set of 37s on my 66 bronco, they both lasted about the same they do amazing on the trail, on the road they dont balance well, they are loud and they get eaten up, but if some dude in an f350 got a gazillion miles out of them, then you must get tons of life. the only interco product i would buy is the irok, that is a solid tire, but again not much for tread life. the people rating swampers are people who put them on dedicated trail rigs or weekend warriors, yeah they get awesome tread life when you only put 5k a year on your rig. might last 3 or 4 years!

You will never get as many miles as the set of tires on the F350. What is the load range on the tires he is running? Most likely E. They are made out of a hard, heavy compound and made to put up with a lot of weight for towing and hauling.

The 33s you are going to be getting are going to be Load range C. A lot softer of a compound.

Like I said it is your money. We are just giving you our opinions. If I had a dedicated trail rig, I would have a set of swampers on it. There is nothing better on the trail. For a truck that does both on road and offroading, it is not really practical to run something that will wear out so fast.

Default BFG MT2, Cooper stt, trail grapplers, or dunlop mud rovers?

im looking for something that will have good wear. ive heard all of these get really good mileage. i wont be rock climbing or anything, mostly city/highway driving, alot of trails, muddy fields, you know things like that when i want to have some fun on the weekends also, which tires looks the meanest at 33/35inches?

ive got the BFG KM2's and have been very happy with them. they are wearing good and are quiet (for a mud tire). ive heard great things about the STT's too, those were my second choice.

they are awesome off road. they wont perform like a swamper or any super aggressive mud tire like that but for a mild mud tire for use on and off road they are hard to beat.

BFG km2 have the best wear out of all the ones you mentioned. I just bought a set of 5 myself. The stt's are good tires but also have a tendency to cup. I say go with BFG KM2's.

I agree with Pat 10000% on this one. Agressive yet able to wear well on road.
