Default I need help too please with tire size

Hi gang, new member here and my first post.
first of all i did search through the threads and didnt find what i need (one guy had a LOT of info, but you needed to know what your suspension kit was to figure out tire sizes?)

i have a 98 ranger, 2wd with 4 cylinder, long bed. had it for 8 years. It came wiht 225 70 14 as recommended by the sticker on door. I would like to get 15 inch tires (rims are easy to get around here; 6 junkyards within 20 mins) .

3 reasons:
-these 14 tires have always been hard to find and therefore pricey and now that they are true dinosaurs its even worse.
-now that gas is over $4 a gallon, the extra 1/2 to 1 3/8 miles per gallon would be a bonus.
- these 14 inch tires make my already dated looking truck look kind of more out of place.

i do realize that my speedo would be off, but i can deal with 3-4 miles per hour. Does anyone have any thoughts on what i could use that DOES increase the circumference. (i found a host of info of comparable tires but they have same circumfernce as my 14s with no benefit in gas mileage)
If anybody has had success with this without scraping tires on inside fender walls when turniing or bottoming out when hitting bumps, please let me know. Thanks
ps. glad i found this forum.. its awesome!

Hey Thanks man. its a great site. I wonder if it matters that your truck is different?..? mine is regular cab too. something i found intersesting is i went on line to look for tires for this truck and tirewarehouse and tirerack both had different recommended sizes for my truck than what i have on it. if i recal THEY all were 15s. weird.
