Default 285/75/16

So i stopped at my dads house and he had a set of 285/75/16 tires laying around and i got to thinking. I looked at the max tire page thats above. If i load my truck up with my ladders and what have ya, will i get a bunch of tire rub on the back. My Tbars are not cranked tight yet if i were to guess i can lift the front at least another inch yet. Id be putting them on my stock rims. Also as my signature states i have chevy shackles and springs but i removed the stock blocks because i didnt want the back to be to high.

Right now from ground to wheel well im at 36.5-37 in the rear and in the front im at 35.5(i can get about an inch more up front)

will they fit ok

----------

Looking at the pictures it looks like i will have zero room but, THe rim is sitting about 2 inchs below the bead of the tire so i would be gaining that 2 inchs still,

well in 3.5 hrs me and my ol man changed and mounted 9 tires(minus my spare). Old fashioned way too. pry bars, mini sledgehammer, rubber mallet. I thought that was pretty good time.

The 285's fit real nice on my truck. being that they are used, they do shake a tiny little bit around 65 mph.

waiting on my phone to send the pictures to my email

Looks good. Those tires look a little bald though.

Im only keeping them on the truck Till mid may. Iam hopefully getting new rims mid april, and new tires a few weeks later. These tires have probably a 1/4 of the tread left. They were free so ill put them on.

Nice topper.

Probably need to balance the tires, hence the shaking.

I was going to stop at my buddies shop and balance them but was told that being a used tire and the rears are wore kinda akward that balancing them wouldnt do much of anything. I may still stop in on monday and balance them to see if it helps a little

tire shop about 10 minutes out of town in the sticks has 4 bfg's for sale. Granted they are used tires but have about 50% tread left. no dry rot. guy says if the arent round when i mount them he'll take them back. For 25.00 a tire is it worth it. Is 50% tread enough to effectively balance them

Did those 285/75/16 fit even without a lift?

I would say that as long as the tires aren't bald, then, "yes", they are able to be balanced. 50% life is pretty good since I have less than that on my stock Continentals (with 5/32 nds on all 4), and I recently balanced them.

Yes. All you need to fit 285's is a t-bar crank. I ran 285's with only the t-bar crank on my truck for almost 2 years I think before I body lifted it.
