Default Lugs nuts for new wheels?

im working on getting some lugs for my wheels im working on. i want the longer lugs for the style wheel.

LMC truck has them but they are $80 for 20! i found some made by gorilla that are cheaper, i think i had them on an old truck of mine but cant remember.

anybody know if they're good?

thanks, heres the link for the lugs.

----------

the lugs i was looking at are more for steel wheels, what will happen if you use them on aluminum?

Yes it does matter.
Steel wheel lug nuts have taper.
"Most" alloy wheel nuts have do not.
If you use a tapered nut on an alloy wheel it will flare out, deform and/or destroy the hole.
Alloys are too soft to hold up to such a great amount of force on such a small surface.

thats not true, every vehicle ive owned have had tapered lugs for the aluminum wheels (4 rangers, an F-150 and a chevy blazer). if the wheels have a tapered lug seat than you must use tapered lugs, especially on wheels that arent hub centric like most aftermarket wheels arent. most aftermarket wheels are lug centric and rely on the tapered lugs to center the wheel correctly.

What's not true?
I've had both types of wheels and both types of lug nuts on alloy wheels.
I said "most". Of course a buyer would have to check the specs on the wheels and then buy the proper nuts for those wheels.
It seems to me that the manuf. are getting away from the "taperless" or shouldered nut in favor of a taper. Ya think?

My deepest and most sincere apology to you

Using a tapered nut on a wheel that is designed for another style of fastener may result in cosmetic and/or structural damage to such wheel.

Better?

My life is now devoted to offering you only the most accurate information humanly possible. Am I worthy enough to post in this F'd up forum?

no, the term alloy in reference to wheels means aluminum.

ok. so are most aftermarket chrome lugs not tappered?

the wheels i have are from a 89-92 bodystyle alum. wheel, the holes arent probly tappered. so i would need a non tappered lug correct?

check the wheels, my bet would be that the lug seats are tapered. if they are you need to use tapered lugs.

its hard to see in the picture whether or not they are tapered, my guess is that they are. every ranger ive owned had had tapered lug seats in the wheels including the 1986.
