Default Help... quick question.

I wasn't sure who I should ask this question so I thought here was the best or maybe my mechanic knows. I have a 97' Ford ranger xlt step side single cab with stock rims and wheels. I was wondering what the biggest tire i could put on without lifting it. I only have 2wd but i want it to be a bit beefer...

----------

I don't want to lift because ik i want something with 4wd and i don't want to invest too much money when this isn't my dream truck... but regardless i love it.

my dad tucked 235's on his 2wd. we also added a 2" block in the back and the 2" leveling kit for the front.

Well, not entirely cause of the tires, but the fronts were still tipped in after new ball joints and an alignment, so the 2" leveling blocks helped to bring the tires back straight. The tire did fit before the leveling blocks, but it was tight! I would not recomend anything but factory width wheels, otherwise I think they would rub

30" should fit
Maybe if you took it to a Tire place they could "test Fit" different sizes for you
Out here in Calif. Americas Tires will test fit for $15

I moved this to wheel and tire section to help others find it easier.

I ran a 265 on 15x7s on my 94 2wd reg cab with no rub.

Also out check out:

i got 235/75/R15S on my ranger, it is just a little bigger and bit wider than the stock because if you look at my pics, it looks like i was runnin on donuts, it changed the ride and i will NEVER go back to those smaller tires, it was enough of a difference that you can notice it from a ways away, check out my 2005 album and you should see the difference
