Myth: Retreads are responsible for most of the road alligators (tire peices) on the highways.
Fact: A survey concluded that the number of retread tire fragments found on highways was proportional to the number of retread tires in service vs regular tires.
-Road hazards account for 38% of retread failures and 36% of regular tire failures
-Maintenance and operational issues account for 32% of retread failures
-Manufacture failures account for only 16%
-Retread tires save truckers an estimated $3 Billion/ Year
-It takes 22 gallons of oil to make a new tire; it takes 7 gallons of oil to make a Retread
-Retread tires are the tire of choice for the majority of major trucking operations who operate on a schedule, carry valuable cargo,
-Retread tires are used on both commercial and military jets
-Poastal service utilizes retread tires
-Half of the replacement tires purchased by truckers are retread tires.
