bolts keep snapping
about 3 weeks ago i changed the front brakes on my 2000 4x4. the left side easy as all get out. the right on the other hand not so much. i had to replace the caliper on the right side did good for about a week. then that's when the fun started. the bolts that hold the caliper hanger keep snapping. first time i didnt know that you are to replace the bolts any time the hanger comes off. but now i am headn out to pick up set #3 of these darn bolts. my question is. is there a tork rating for the bolts that im not finding? any help would be grate. thanx

Re: bolts keep snapping
The only thing I can think of is you're buying cheap bolts. If you never want to worry again, go with grade 8 bolts.

Re: bolts keep snapping
Go to the dealer and buy OE bolts.
Yes, you are supposed to torque them to spec.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Torque specs are very, very important!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: bolts keep snapping
There is no need to use threadlock if you install the correct hardware and torque it to spec.

Re: bolts keep snapping
threadlock has nothing to do with bolts snapping. Weak bolts have everything to do with bolts snapping.

Re: bolts keep snapping
most bolts on the truck have a strength rating stamped on the head. You should match that when replacing them, and torque them to spec, as has been said. there should be no problems.
