bigger tire size = ball joint replacement?

i have just bought a 1993 ford ranger, and it doesnt have stock wheels and tires on it. it has 4-235/75/R15, could this be the reason for the balljoint problem i have?

its 93 the ball joints probably havent been replaced in a while but 235s are going to do much

yeah that small of a tire wont do much to the ball joints, like stated above it is a 93...so they prolly need to be changed.

^--- yeha i agree with the following guess above....235's are a tiny tire. Its just prob time to replace them, hell nothing last for ever

Hey Ranger extreme,
you think 235/75/R15's are small tires?? I have them on my ranger and I feel like they F with the gearing or soething because I gotta rev high to shift from one gear into the low end of the next gear.

235/75 is only 29" diameter. That's not very big.

Yes I know it's 29"....but what is the stock tire size? I'm thinking that getting a 28inch tire would make my driving alot better shifting wise.

Do you happen to have your owners manual?

Also how many miles on the engine? When was the last time you did some matinence on it?

Also, it is a 4 banger, you might have to rev it up a little bit more than a v6 or v8 to get optimum power out of it. 4 cyl motors are generally designed to rev a little higher than most larger displacement motors.

Check the door sticker and see what size is recommended.

Different strokes for different folks = different size tires for different size drive trains.

my 94 4x4 came with 235 stock then i ran 31s with 3.27 gears talk about tire making it feel slow. now i went to 3.73 and its much better

ball joint and brakes don;t last for ever the tires sounds about right for a 4wd my guess it it is time, bad shock bad aliment also increase the wear on tires/balljoint

295/45 R20 just fitted and revs are down and speed is up !
