I am a very anal old fart and did my homework and here is what I found:

1. DO NOT LOCKTITE, this will prevent scheduled re-torquing of
wheels (use anti-seize).
2. USE ONLY FORGED OR BILLET SPACERS, the cast pieces of crap are
only good for paperweights.
3. The best case scenario is that the center of rim/tire assembly is
directly in line with mounting flange of axle/hub as to put equal load
on bearing assemblies.
4. Do scheduled wheel spacer re-torquing, i.e. when changing oil, re-
torque spacers.
5. Use the best synthetic disc brake grade (even if drum brakes, it is a
heat issue) grease you can find (Mobile 1 is available at Wal-Mart
and your local friendly auto parts chain store).

Remember, there are old race car drivers and there are bold race car drivers, but very few old and bold race car drivers, Think before you act, hindsight is 20/20 but stupidity lasts forever. Enjoy!!
