1998 - Do 2WD and 4WD use same wheels?
I recently purchased a 1998 4x4 Ranger.
It has aftermarket rims. I would like to put on newer model stock ranger rims. Do I have to worry about whether the rims came off a 2WD or 4WD truck, or are they the same? Thanks!

just make sure they are atleast 15" not 14" and it will be fine there is still some 98's that had 14" wheels

yeah the height of the rim is all you have to worry about. what rims are you looking for?

Thanks guys, great info and quick replies!
I am looking at various options - locally there are a set of 2005 for sale on Craigslist. I haven't decided for sure as there are several different rims and I am new to the Ranger game.

Good question. I am puzzled because of my situation. I bought some studded snows on Ranger wheels. These wheels were off an older truck than mine and the center bore is smaller.

ya i believe some 1st gen rangers had a smaller bore or you might have jeep wheels

Most wheels for the Explorer, Explorer Sport, and Ranger are interchangeable. Look for 5X4.5 or 5X114.3 for the lug spacing but if you stick with the above models, you generally are good.
