Default Need help with Tire Chop

Bought my truck ('99 2WD) over the summer and noticed it had a shake at 55-60mph. Brought it to Ford and had tires balanced - they said balancing didn't help, but rotating did. The shake has gone from the rear to the front (after the rotation), and now I can feel the problem in the steering wheel.

Took the truck to a tire store, where I was shown "chopping" on the inside shoulders of the front tires (which were on the back when I got the truck).

So, I am trying to find out what the cause is, and what I should do before buying new tires so this doesn't continue to happen. Ideally I'd like to replace all wheels and tires, but would like to fix any problems before doing so.

Thanks a lot for any advice. I love my Ranger.

Could be from bad shocks.....that's the most likely cause

check front end for worn parts, if replacing parts do a wheel alignment, maybe a good idea to check the alignment even if you dont have worn parts

Sway bar links are shot. Replaced one, waiting for dry ground and warmer weather to fix other. Will have rest of what you suggested checked out, thanks.
