Default Question about getting new tires for my rims

My ranger is lowered at the moment and has 17" wheels that have 245/45/17 tires on them. Here is my question, I want to raise it back up to stock height within the next month or 2, but do not have the money to buy new wheels, so I wanted to still use what I have but get new tires. How do I figure out what size I can fit on the rims? I would like something that will put my speedometer back the right way where now it is about 10MPH over what I am really doing. I appreciate any help, I am new to all this lol.

my 245/50/18's are same height as my stock 235/70/15's ... I wld say 245/55/17's should be darn close to stock.. you could find some one with 235/70/15 a/t's and measure the overall height and do some research to find a close match, hit some parking lots with a tape measurer, lol

There was a link someone put on here to calculate tire height, I can't remember it for the life of me, but it was super simple

that calculator said my 245/50/18's where smaller, and they are exactly the same height as the 235/70/15's... depends on the tire maker

I do have a stock spare tire and wheel I can measure. Original was 235/70/15 which equals 28". 245/55/17 would equal 27.6", but those tires are like $200 a piece min when I looked. A 235/60/17 equals 28.1" and are alot cheaper but will they fit on a my rims which I think are 17x8.5 when I tried to measure them?

I found this online http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...bmit&reset=yes
accourding to this a 235/60/17 tire will fit on a rim from 6.5 to 9" wide so I should be good.
