Default 2WD Tire "Cables" Or "Chains" Any Good In Snow?

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone has tried the good old tire chains or tire "cables" on their rear wheel drive ranger up a icy driveway, because I have a 10% grade driveway that is hard to get up with the pack down snow. Even when I plow it, it leaves a little bit of snow that the plow couldnt get. So I was wondering what would work better a set of chains or tire cables like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VAMSXG/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&psc=1

i say get some agressive tires like some mudders or something. i had alot of trouble in the snow last year with my stock tires but then i upgraded to 31 inch mudders and you would think the truck was 4wd it does so good.

Yeah thats an option, I have A/T Tires on my truck now, and w/ the 420lbs of sand in the back helps, but I'm just curious about what would be better chains or cables? I'll deffinately look at some mudding tires the next time im at the store.

Cables are better than chains because they actually have something to bite into the snow/ice, as opposed to having cables that tend to slip easier.

Do they make those tires in the stock tire size of a ranger?

i dont think so. your ranger will handle the 31s on stock suspension. mine does fine.
