for nitrogen vs air in the tire: you have to take into consideration how you use your truck, i air my tires down when i take the truck offroad and then refill to street levels when im done with a portable air comp. with nitrogen, you let it out, and youve wasted $40 by letting it go... just a thought
also, skinnier tires will get better mileage than wider tires of the same height, so if you dont need a wide tire, you might be better off with a skinnier tire.

OK you got me on that one and air is free but if your goal is mpg than thats a way you could go and every now and then you could do nitrous hits and get hi lol

If someone only has 1 brain cell to begin with I don't think killing it would make that much difference.

On my old '03 Ranger XLT 3.0L I went from 225/70x15 to 235/75x15LT and gained 3-4mpg with 3.73 gearing. Loved it.

225/70/15 = 27.4"x8.9"
235/75/15 = 28.9"x9.3"

1.5" larger diameter and about the same width. Were they identical tires, just different size? Either way, it still shows that a larger diameter tire can improve mpg.

Yeah, I couldn't explain it. Didn't stop me from enjoying it and making the most of it though. That truck I generally reached 25-26 MPG. Note: This was an 2003 XLT 2wd Mannual Tranny with K&N Drop in air, Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow with a side 3" Y tip exiting before the rear tire. Sounded GREAT.

same as on a bike, a larger tire will get you further on 1 rotation, until you need to exert more force to move that tire. so generally increasing by 1" or maybe 1.5" is actually good
