There is a place near me that retread tires, but I have never done it. I know some people with heavy equipment like the caterpillars they retread tires because it is a cheaper option than buying new one and they say it works great.

search on here, there are quiet a bit of thread on it, i was going to buy some but i found a better deal on craigslist. everyone says treadwright is great and rarely has problems with them. i know you can get some pretty sweet looking tires on there. be sure to get a good side wall like bfgoodrich. search and you should find some things, but then read it

If you're only going off-road with them, get them. If you plan to DD it, don't. Put it this way, big rigs get re-treads because they're cheap and cost effective but they ONLY get them for the tires that don't turn so eveyrthing but the front two tires are re-treads thats because they're not very strong. I'd never get a retread. I'd wait it out.

X2!!!

The feds really don't like retreads on the steering axle of a commercial vehicle. This is one instance where I would agree with the feds. I know technology has changed over the last 25 years when it comes to this stuff, but my personal safety is more important than saving a few bucks.

Years ago we never bought retreads because of seperation of the tread . Not sure how much better they are today as I never buy retreads . In todayts market you should be able to find something a little better for cheaper price .
Just my opinion ....

the stuff they do with 18 wheelers tires and our kinda tires is different. they have changed over the years. my friend actually had some treadwright tires and i didnt know it but we loved them, worked great, lasted him a while, well until his crappy dakota died haha. everyone gives them good rating, the people that have hem is who im talking about.

I run retreads on my ranger. Bought them from Treadwright. Hands down the best tire for the money.

Would I buy them again? YES
Do I trust running them in the highway? YES
Do I trust driving with my kids in the truck? YES

I know you can pick to have 4 matching sidewalls but I do not think you can pick the make of tire it will be. I have 4 Wrangelr RT/S.

All of the shreaded tires you see on the side of the road come from tires that were no properly inflated and maintained.

And just a reminder. It was only a short time ago the Firestone tires were coming apart on Explorers and Expeditions. Were those retread tires? Nope, brand new factory installed.

It is not what the tire is made of as long as it is made with quality. The retreads you can buy from Treadwright (only company I have bought retreads from so only one I know) are made the same way as the tires from Goodyear, BFG, General. The only difference is that the center of the tire is used.

Like all tires proper maintance and tire pressure is the key.
