i've seen similar lol - i guess it's the size of the tire that will determine how it'll work...

Re: rims that fit on a ranger
I just picked up the truck tonight and I haven't been able to yet determine whether there is enough room to stuff that 18x10 under the rear. The tire would be a 315x30x18 Falken Azenis RT615 ( http://falkentire.com/tires/car-tires/azenis-rt615k ) lending to a 12.4" wide tire. I think I will be possibly limited to a 275x18, however, I am sure with the right amount of money anythings possible.
Tire rack was of no help as they only suggested and "know of" using a 245x40x18 and nearly every google search gives up using 98% of 30" or larger tires. Despite some motorcross interest, I dont play in the mud or am I interested in the Dakar dune runner look. Still hard for me to leave my auto-X and Road course roots and until I replace my BMW with another M series; this trucks going to be a project toy.

Re: rims that fit on a ranger
SMSRanger- I would chuck those 14" and get you a set of 15" rims, start from there.

Re: rims that fit on a ranger
The fact I've seen more than a couple posts indicating a 315/70/16 gives me hope that this will be tight but fit well. Stock is 25.4" height and my combination will give a 25.5" height... See pic

15" wheels wont give me the tarmac contact patch I am looking for and need or the benefits I am looking for.
Would be fine for the daily grind or if I was just going to a larger tire for ground clearance but I am headed in the other direction and am seeking control and handling more than anything else.

Re: rims that fit on a ranger
Now to try to figure out which of those rims is a smoothie style that will fit beauty rings and small hub caps (baby moon or other type).
I'm open to tips.

Re: rims that fit on a ranger
I will check my son's newly purchased rime & tires he went way over sized.
Townfair tire mounted one for us to try on, to check clearance..
put it on the front, and it looks ok, just way large..
I will post the info & some pics

Warlord 17x 8 1/2 5x114.3 bolt pattern
Tires are Mastercraft AXT 245/65R/17T

That wheel and tire set up is equivalent to a 31inch tire ( which is the largest you can go on most rangers without trimming or lifting

You can fit that tire, but your going to need a more protruding wheel and expect those tires to stick out like a sore thumb. If you want good grip on the road and don't want the doors and rear fenders to get sandblasted, go for a 265 maybe a size higher. Don't get past 285.

Re: rims that fit on a ranger
This information is awesome. I have a 95', ext. cab, 4 cyl, with 315000 miles on original engine. Since I CAN'T FIND TIRES that are all terrain, 225/70/14, I was thinking maybe 15'. The question is how big of a tire can I get on a 15' rim without killing my 25 mpg and engine?

What gearing do you have? If you bump up to 15's you might try and get 235/70r15 or 235/75r15

Re: rims that fit on a ranger
Wouldn't Mazda B**** rims fit the Rangers also? Same truck just different emblems.
I also would think that many Mazda "5 hole" rims would also fit.

The offset would look terrible if you used Mazda wheels from anything besides a B*** truck. But you are right, lots of mazdas are 5x4.5
Rangers need negative offset. That is why so many guys run spacers.
Front wheel drive vehicles generally have really positive offset wheels.

Re: rims that fit on a ranger
I don't quite understand the whole offset thing quite yet. Just to give me a mental picture.....what would it look like with positive offset (mazda cars?) rims on a Ranger? Wheels/tires sticking too far out or too far in?
