Default all terrain tires

so i know i posted a thread before on winter tires but im starting to look into all terrains. i was just wondering if they would be good in winter. and also what kinds and brands are best. im looking at a set of motomaster total terrain all terrain tires and i was wondering if i should get those or look elsewhere. im not looking into spending rediculous amounts of money so if anyone knows of good quality all terrain tires at a fair price please let me know

Just like your other tire thread that was moved to the tire section, this one too belongs in the tire section. Thread moved...

They'll be fine if you don't drive like an idiot, just throw about 4-6 sandbags in the box. Some of them even come with the option of having them studded if ice is a big concern.

I drove a couple of winters on a set of BFG AT T/A KO on my Mazda 4x2. Got stuck 10 times one winter....I live in a snow belt which averages 2.34 m (92 inches) of snow each year (similar to Ottawa and Montreal). The next winter, I invested in a set of four studded winter tires (Arctic Claw TXI)....much better in the snow and ice than the BFG.

All the above with 200-300 pounds of sand bags in the bed.

Just installed a set of four studded General Altimax Arctic tires on my FX4. Pretty well set for winter.

In early 2010, I bought four 245/75-16 General Altimax Arctic from Talontire.com in Quebec. Was $664.xx at my door (was $142 before shipping and 5% GST). Current price there has gone up to $155 though.

PMCtire.com is also in Quebec. For example, the 245/75-16 General Altimax Arctic are $151.57 with free shipping for most Quebec and Ontario customers. I would assume that taxes are extra.

Assuming your stock tire size is 225/70-15, Talontire sells the General Altimax Arctic for $127 plus shipping and taxes. PMCtire has the same for $129.49 plus taxes (free shipping?).

If you are close to Toronto, there is Simply Tire and Gofortires (see Redflagdeals.com for group buy).
