Default what tire pressure do you use?

I was looking at my tires and it shows a maximum of 44 psi. Does anyone use 44 psi in their tires? How does the truck feel with this much pressure. I currently use 35 psi in my tires and it seems to ride fine.

I always run the max sidewall pressure. It rides ruffer but the tires last longer & you get better mpg due to the lower rolling resistance of the higher pressure making the tire harder.

I go by the sticker on the driver door jamb. The pressure on the tire pertains to the tire. The application of that tire can vary. So the recommendation you find on that sticker has characteristics of you vehicle in mind. Like it's weight.

Snowball do you run like that in the winter? Do I have permission to still call you snowball even though you have a fancy new Last of the Mahicans truck?

i would have to argue with you on the lasting longer, if you dont have weight on the rear and you max your tires out the centers will wear out faster, but maybe as far as crack? maybe

Yep, run them max PSI year arround.. Winter traction would likely be a little better if I lowered it. But I get where I need to go just fine, so I leave it.

LOL... Snowball is better than hey you

Always at max. 44psi. I do it for fuel economy. I'm thinking about lowing it to the sticker value the next time I make my 700 mile round trip to CT and see how it differs in fuel economy and ride.

well maybe you keep them rotated enough, but at our shop every oil field truck that comes, mainly the chevys, have the centers worn out because they dont rotate them enough and because chevy wants 80 psi in the rear with the sensors

It depends on the tire you have compared to stock. Check this load inflation table link out. Toyo Tire Load and Inflation Table If you are running stock, I would stick with the door jamb sticker but to each their own.

If the tires wear fine at a higher pressure then go for it. Just keep in mind some tires get a reduction in traction with a higher pressure, especially on wet roads. It depends on the design of the tread and the tire itself.

i run mine at 35 psi.

as for maxing them out on our rangers it doesn't make the tires wear uneven or at least noticably( this issue is more with 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks that weigh a whole heck more lol). running them on the low side(even 30psi) WILL usually wear the sides off more though. maybe not on a stock size tire but more on 265's 31's etc.

Guys, different brand and even different model tires require different pressures. The door jamb sticker refers ONLY to the factory tires, and then thats Ford's recommendations. Read the fine print on the tires. It will either be 35 PSI or 44 PSI for most tires. Did alignments and front end work at dealerships for many years. We would get notices from tire mfgs all the time advising us to air up to max or close to it as called for on the particular tire. Remember the Explorer/ Firestone fiasco?

3 things happen when you run um low; cupping(noisy tires), accelerated wear, lower mileage. There is a bit of softer ride also, but mine ain't a caddi.

not true at all, it happens on all types of vehicles, vans, cars, trucks pump em up to 50 and drive around for awhile and see what happens to your rear tires, trust me i see it every day no weight + over inflated tires = centers wearing out
