Post Tired of searching, help me find a good winter tire.

Hey everyone. So yeah, basically I am tired of searching and reading thread after thread about tires and what not and still can't make up my mind lol. I would like to find a good winter tire that is good on snow, rain, sleet, possibly ice, and of course dry roads. I think I had BFG's a while back but they are no good as in a little bit of tread left on em. Also, I don't want the price to hit me extremely hard because I'm trying to save up my checks from work for a nice dual exhaust setup using flowmasters 40 series and of course bills . So I would really like to get the tires soon so I don't have to worry about getting them later and all that. So I need some advice and suggestions on what to get. Any sites to go to would be nice. Thanks

Studless snows are great. I had a set of Hankook iPike's on my car and my old 2wd ranger and they effin' tore it up on snow and ice (clicky: iPike's). Goodyear as a good winter rated tire called the Duratrac...it's called a "traction tire" and "traction tires" are considered traction devices for mountain passes and also pass the Canadian requirement for winter traction tires. Alot of guys run them as their year round tires.

Over the last 8 years , On my dodge , I had Toyo town and countries . Excellent off road , mud , snow and rain . Careful if someone says great on ice . I do not really think any tire is good on ice . Since 1972 , I have never found a great tire on ice ( Found a few telephone poles in winter Ice lol ) . I have Wranglers on my new Ranger , but when it comes time to replace them , My preference is to go back to Toyo again . Wranglers ride great as a passenger tire and decent sand tire , But I'll let you know after this winter how they did up here in the snow .

Nice! Yeah I been having my eye on some Hankook and would really like to try some out if there that good. I have been looking at these: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...sw=true&cs=235 Would these be good also? I think they are the same. How good are they on dry road like the noise and all?
Or these:http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...sw=true&cs=235
Thanks Shane .

Well personally, I don't want to wait after winter to get a result because I have 20'' chrome rims on my truck now and I need them swapped out for this upcoming winter. Would you happen to have the site or something to show me those Toyo tires? Thanks

True story on the "no tire is good on ice". It's still ice, but not as bad as say an all season tire that's for sure.

Steer the eff clear of Toyo Open Country A/T's....they suck royal balls on even just flippin' rain. Hated those damn tires when I had 'em.

Thanks Shane .

Sorry...must've skipped this post. The difference in those tires are the load rating. The LT235 is designed for pickups and the normal 235(the cheaper one) is designed for cars. Being it's just a little light 2wd Ford Ranger, you can get away with the cheaper, rated for less tires. Just checked the manufacturer website and there's not much weight rating difference between the two. There may be slightly more tread wear with the cheaper ones but they are just winter tires and you're looking for an affordable winter tire.

I say go for it. I friggin' loved 'em and they are AMAZING on my subaru in 6" of snow and I was very surprised with snow traction in 6" or so of snow in the 2wd open Ranger. Discounttiredirect.com sometimes has AWSOME rebates and/or savings promotions. I got my Subaru's 205/60R15's shipped to my door for about $150.

Nice, I just found my tire then . Thanks Shane. Oh and hopefully, I should be able to buy the stuff from you. Once I find my GPS charger and at the stores I need some blue film because I want to sand away the stock paint on em and instead of re painting, put a blue film over it to make the color output even. I just thought of that.

HAHA true true, yeah, once I go over the price with the folks, I'll hopefully get them. I want to do soon, but I'll see what happens, I really want to get my exhaust done first but again, not steering away here haha. Thanks again. I'll hit you up when I'm ready.
