salt might cause some damage to them. be careful if you wanna leave them on. in the past ive changed wheels out for winter/summer. (not doing it now cuz i dont have the money for summer wheels...)

Your OEM mags will be fine during winter, they are made to endure much more than regular aftermarket wheels that will chip and have paint/chrome that'll peel off even during summer.

Avoids the possibility of damaging the mags by switching tires twice a year, people then go for steelies. When i had a car, i had 18" for summer, and 15" for winter tires, that was much cheaper on rubbers!

Now i just solved the problem with the truck by buying tires i can use off road and during winter, no more need to switch.
