Default Steering Shake, but not always

hey, i've been experiencing some steering shake at higher speeds, 50+. Im assuming i probably just need balancing/alignment, but the weird thing is that the shake doesn't always happen. Sometimes everything is fine and i won't get any shake at speeds up to 65 or so, or other times I will drive 5 or so miles and everything will be fine and then the shake will begin to happen. Any ideas?
