Default daunting task of cleaning back of wheels and tires

yesterday after getting back from pool with the GF, i was bored, so i decided to piddle with the Ranger. Its beeen annoying me seeing the black stuff on the backside of the rim through the spokes. So i took on the task of taking each wheel of, and spraying it with Awesome, and tackiling it with a scotch pad. also took Awesome and a brush to the back of tire. they tuned totally blackish brown when i sprayed the cleaner on them! While i had the back wheels off, i rattlecanned the drums, they look new again! to the pics

How many coats on the drums? Any problems with the paint on the threads getting the wheels back on?

I am afraid to look behind my wheels...probably so disgusting...

i just put two cats on the drums...nothing major.

the lugs went on fine; I tried not to get paint on them...

i just found a can of black heat paint that i used on my tail pipe and gave them a quick coat.

I cleaned up the insides of my wheels a couple times with a wire brush. But since it's impossible to get in there without taking them off, I'm going to paint the insides flat black.
Looks good, though....

On my last car I used to paint my drums bright red. I always wrapped a piece of masking tape around the threads.

eh, just do away with the drums and put rotors on the back... i did that but i put a whole new rearend in too. Got all the brake parts painted/powdercoated red until i can get everything powdercoated.

You could always take the drum off and paint it that way too. but nice job on the wheels, they look a lot better!
