The Biggest Tires Possible
Hey Guys,
I was just wondering what the biggest tire size I can put on my stock 1998 ranger without any kind of lift. It's 2wd, has a 4 cyl 2.5L engine, and a 5 speed manual transmission. Also, if I do get bigger tires I was wondering what type of perfromance if any I would need to add to my engine.

30s. Not too much you can do performance wise other than getting a chip/tuner. Intake/exhaust could help some, but in the end it is still a 4 cylinder. Or you can look into a turbo.

30's will fit. Actually, I had thought you get 31's under there. But you're safe at 30".

31s would probably require some trimming, but 30s no worries.

BFG A/T are always a solid choice. Not too much road noise and great off road performance. Depends on how much you are willing to spend, how much you care about road noise. SInce M/Ts have much more aggressive but have a lot more road noise.

This post has helped me I want to get rid of the crappy stock 14" rims, I am putting 15" awc 8 spoke black rims on it just cheep and basic for now not sure on the tires yet depends on the pricing I get definitely a/t's.
edit:
I am thinking Toyo Open Country A/T's 235/75R15 just trying to find the best price and some good rims that are below $100 Each preferably around $50 each

i would say slam some 32s under there and do some hacking not trimming. it would look like a lifedtruck with big tires all taking up any bit of fender you have

i have a 2002 ford ranger xlt 2wd with coils in the front. i have 31s interco truxus m/ts with no lift at all. it rubs a little but nothing to be worried about.i have 1 inch coil spring spacers i need to put on but after that it will be fine.
