Default Rear only snow tires? '91 2wd

im thinking its a good idea to put some bigger tires just on the back of my truck for the winter for some lighter offroading in the snow. its a 2wd and im thinking it wont make much difference if leave my bfg radials in the front.

i did some looking and figured 31x10.5x15 would fit on my truck (correct me if im wrong). theres no lift on this truck.

will this work like i think? haha i hope it does. comments are appriecated thanks.

I've tried mixing tires on a rear wheel drive vehicle before. It didn't work well, I would suggest getting snow tires all the way around.

Or you could buy 4 good all around offroad tires with this logo that'll be good in snow too!

Several years ago, I tried that with my 1996 Mazda B3000 and a set of BFG All Terrain T/A KO with the mountain snow logo. Didn't perform very well in the snow and/or ice....went with a cheap set of studded Arctic Claw's....much better than the BFG in winter conditioins.

I would say to stay away from that mixing tire size stuff, i would stay within a size or two of your stock size and try to go for narrower rather than wider, especially for slush. A good tire for winter is a cooper weathermaster ST2. I had a pair on my 2wd ranger, and my focus, both of which preformed very well in the snow. Another decent tire for snow, that i am currently running year-round on my truck is the master-craft courser MSR.

I was going to buy TKOs, but they seem too "all season" for my taste (no specialty, plus they aren't grooved to evacuate big quantities of liquid).
I opted for the territory, which is a more aggressive thread, haven't tried it in snow yet, time will tell.

I say you get 2 cheap wheels. Go get 2 studded tires (within a couple sizes of your tires...you don't wanna look like a pro dragster) and wait for a day that you arnt going to be obligated to go anywhere...throw them on and tell us how it works out.

Dependshow much snow/ice you get. I would not risk losing the steering/stopping power. Go with 4 decent all terrain tire's. Its worth the extra 2-3 hundred bucks
