Default Drum Brake Replacement Probelm

I just replaced the drum brakes. Only on the passenger side at the moment. Everything is back on but I can't fit the new drums over the new shoes.

Adjuster is "withdrawn" as much as it can go. The old drums fit on fine.

I compared the new and old drum and they match, including diameter numbers listed.

Any thoughts? Maybe put the old ones back on and return the new ones?

So maybe I have the wrong size drums? The pic below is of the drivers side with no brake shoes or hardware. I just tried to fit it over that center piece and it won’t go farther.

These are 10 inch brakes and match up to my old ones

The last new shoes I bought at carquest got me the same problem, new shoes were too thick, but just incase, make sure the emer brake is all the way released.

This could be as simple as the crust built up on the axle/wheel mounting flange preventing the drum from full 'insertion' if you will.

Attack it with a wire wheel and see what happens. Won't hurt nothing.

Just to make sure, the parking brake is fully disengaged yes?

Visually they look like 10" drums and I'm assuming 10" shoes because 9" shoes would make it like a hot dog in the hallway.
