Re: any one know some good tires?
If I recall, friends who had one used 29 inch tall on stock 4by without any lift, but I also recall that they had to trim the bottom rear corner of the front wheel wheel so as the fender would not cut into the tread on tight turns. A minimal body lift (not a suspension lift) is a reasonable option to consider for costs as well as keeping the geometry intact for ride and handling. A 1.5 inch lift will let you go to 30's

If I remember correctly from when I researched tires, the biggest you can get in a 14" is 225/70R14. Not a lot of selection in that size though. Firestone makes the Destination LE and AT, both of which got good reviews on Tire Rack. There were three other selections but I don't remember what brand or model they were though. I went with the ATs and have been happy with them so far.
If you have the money, I would recommend going with a 15" or 16" rim so you get get more choices.

Re: any one know some good tires?
well i want to go with bigger rims but there aren't any that i particularly care for that fit rangers except mustang rims but they seem like a pain to make fit and they are expensive.. so i guess ill just stick with stock rims for now and see what happens later on down the road

Actually, 4 new 14" tires could come to the same price as 4 used ranger or explorer 15" with average to good tires. Personally it's the way i'd go if money was an issue.

I heard nothing but good things about the geolanders, but the thread pattern reminds me of entry level all season car tires, which lead me to doubt its abilities.

Re: any one know some good tires?
I've never had a better tire than Michellin LTX AT, They are great on the highway and off road, and I pull a trailer and a boat.
I have 235 75 15's, but your truck should be able to run the same size (29") with no mods.
A set of 15" BII, Ranger, or Explorer wheels shouldn't b hard to find, and for a good price.

Re: any one know some good tires?
There is a lot of wheel well room even with 225s. I have something on the order of 3-4 inches of clearance between the tread the the lip of the fender opening. Of course, I just installed new springs too...
