Default 98 Ranger driving with auto locking hubs removed.

Hi all, new ranger owner here, just a quick question. I had to put new rims on my ranger but the only way they would fit is if i removed the auto locking hubs in the front. I do plan on actually get the correct rims soon, but just need to be able to drive it. Other than 4x4 not working, and dirt and water getting in there, will driving with out the hubs installed cause any damage to the drivetrain?

Not at all. Gears and bearings love water and dirt.

I drive with the rear axle cover off but the water and dirt hasn't been a problem.
