I'm replacing tires on my 11 year old Ranger. I'd like to retain the functionality of the tpms system. There are a lot of replacements out there and I'm wondering what type to use based on cost and user friendly programing. Any suggestions out there?

The original ones are the banded style (mounted on the center of the rim via a metal strap) they are generally replaced with the more modern valve stem style sensors. There's a ton of brands but the only thing you need to verify is that you get 315mhz sensors. I think the last set I installed were autel's which run on both 315&433mhz so they are universal. I was able to program them with the factory ford tpms tool which only costs around 30 bucks.

I purchased my TPMS sensors preprogrammed for my Ranger. They were installed recently along with new tires. I thought that I would need relearn or sync the truck to the new sensors. So I expected the TPMS gauge cluster light to come on during the first drive. I think I've got 25 miles on the new tires and sensors and no light. Does this mean the truck recognizes the sensors all is well?

That or the light is burnt out...

Let the air out of one of them and see if the light comes on...

on my ranger.2010. activates at 28 psi so lower one tire to 20 psi and if activates when driving it works. if not then not activated and need work. can take a few miles to activate. mine took 10 minutes once.

You need to drive for 2 minutes above 25mph for it to reset. If you stop or drop below 25 before 2 minutes it'll keep starting over until you maintain 25 or above for the full 2 minutes.
