Is it a rhythmic thumping sound? 'Cause thats the noise drums make.

But really, have you pulled the drums off to make sure you don't have a broken spring in there?

And next time wait more than 30 min. to bump your thread.

is it a rule to wait 30 min's to bump?? i need to know because im traveling tomorrow. time really isn't what i have right now. i took it for another drive it did it like once i got up to 40mph. then i pulled into a parking lot put the e-brake on. then i couldnt find the problem took off and the nosie went away :0 i drove it for like a 20 mins and its gone. i got up to over 50mph. tryed brakeing hard and its normal again. i looked things up on google and they said that if it makes a rattle sound like it was it could be these 2 retaining springs or the return springs. i think it was the retaining spring. when i took it in last time he said my adjustment for the parking break was stuck open. i think it has something to do with that. i use the parking brake all the time and he said they only get stuck open if you dont use it. idk whats up with it but when i get back from the mountains tomorrow ill swing by my mechanic and see what he has to say about this. if it needs to be adjusted again then so be it

So, again I ask, Have you pulled the drum off and looked? Thats the logical thing to do when you hear something in there.

You probably spent more time on the internet looking for solutions then it would have taken to check.

yea probably did lol if it starts making the sound i don't really care. it will be fine. most of the braking comes from the front anyways. plus its only one side so i think :0 lol my buddys 99 ranger had the same problem i just found out. he drove it like that for about a year then he replaced the drum and bam sound gone. i just drove it and sound went away. so idk and idc really. if it breaks on me tomorrow then ill just have it fixed. you know what ill be right back im going to go test it once more. see if the sound comes back

Personally, I would have pulled the drum and taken a look. Nothing worse than going on a trip and getting stuck because you didn't take the time. JM2C

like i said nothing happen. yea i would of took it off if it would of kept making the sound but it didn't. but i understand what you mean. i should of took it off and checked at least. right now i'm going to run over to the mechanic and have him have a look at it. since he just worked on them a couple weeks ago. maybe if there is a broken part in there i can have it fixed for free. big maybe but its worth a try.

alright took the drums off and found absolutely nothing wrong. dad took a look also and he found nothing wrong either. so i guess this is good news. but that rattle still makes me wonder. my mechanic said if it wasn't the drums then it could of been a rock on the inside of the rim. idk well here are some pics of the work.

driver side

passenger side i did this side first and only had my phone on me.
